PEN PICS
1. ROB ELLIOTT - A local lad, the 24 year old signed for The Addicks in 2004 from non-league side Erith Town in 2004, and had loan spells at Bishop’s Stortford, Notts County and Accrington Stanley where he won the Conference title in 2006. He finally made his Charlton debut in April 2008 and the following season ousted Nicky Weaver to become the first-choice goalkeeper at The Valley. He has since gone on to make 57 league appearances for Charlton, and is a former Republic of Ireland U19 international.
2. SIMON FRANCIS - The 25 year old right back is a new arrival at the club having been recently released by Southend United. The Nottingham born defender began his career with Bradford City after being rejected by both County and Forest, and spent two seasons at Valley Parade before moving to Sheffield United for £200,000. The former England U18 international struggled to establish himself with The Blades and spent most of the 2005-06 season on loan at Grimsby Town and Tranmere Rovers before joining Southend. However he couldn’t prevent the Shrimpers from relegation to League Two last season, and after rejecting Brentford signed for The Addicks.
3. KELLY YOUNGA - Originally from the Central African Republic, the defender started his career with Lyon B playing alongside French internationals Karim Benzema, Florent Malouda and Eric Abidal before signing for Charlton on a free in 2005. He was sent on loan to Bristol City, Bradford City and Scunthorpe United before making his senior Addicks debut in January 2008 in an FA Cup tie against West Brom. The 24 year old has since sealed his place as the first choice left back at the club and has made over 60 league appearances, scoring once.
4. JOHNNIE JACKSON - The central midfielder signed a permanent deal at The Valley last month, having spent the final few months off last season on loan there from Notts County. He began his career at Tottenham after progressing through their youth ranks but despite having six years as a professional at White Hart Lane made just 20 Premier League appearances, scoring his only league goal against Charlton in February 2004. He had loan spells at Swindon, Colchester, Coventry, Watford and Derby before making a free transfer to Colchester. He went on to make over a century of league appearances for the U’s before moving to Meadow Lane at the start of last season.
5. MIGUEL ANGEL LLERA - A product of the Recreativo Huelva academy in Spain, the centre back played for lower league sides Recreativo B, San Fernando and Alicante before featuring in La Liga for Gimnastic in 2005-06. After dropping back down to the

Segunda with Hercules he joined MK Dons in 2008 and after a season at stadium:MK he arrived at Charlton,
where he made an instant impression by scoring on his debut against Wycombe. He went on to net another three goals during his first season at The Valley and is a key member of their defence.
7. JOSE SEMEDO - The former Portugal U21 international started his playing career at Sporting Lisbon but never featured for the first team, instead enjoying loan spells at Casa Pia, Feirense and Calgliari in Serie A before signing for Charlton in 2007. The defensive midfielder has gone on to make 100 appearances for The Addicks during his time in South London, scoring his only league goal for the club against Tranmere at the beginning of last season.
7. SCOTT WAGSTAFF - A product of the same Charlton Academy which has produced midfielders such as Robert Lee and Scott Parker, the 20 year old joined the club aged just eight years old and spent a decade in their youth ranks, captaining the U18s in their run to the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals in 2008. He made his first-team debut a couple of months later and picked up their Young Player of the Year award in the same season. He spent a month on loan at Bournemouth and Northwich Victoria early in 2008-09 but began to hold down a regular place in The Addicks midfield later that season, and looks a good prospect for the future.
8. THERRY RACON - The 26 year old began at French giants Marseille but made a solitary league appearance for them before spells at Lorient and Guingamp. He then joined Charlton in August 2007 and made his debut later that month against Stockport County. Later that season he had a loan spell at Brighton and Hove Albion before returning to The Valley, where he has clocked up 59 league games, scoring four goals. He has also featured for the Guadeloupe international side.
9. PAWEL ABBOTT - Another recent signing by Phil Parkinson, the former Poland U21 international brings some vast Football League experience to the Charlton side. He began his career in England with Preston where he spent three years punctuated by loan spells at Bury and Huddersfield Town. He signed for the latter on a permanent deal for £125,000 in 2004 and went on to make over 100 appearances for The Terriers, netting 44 goals in the process. He then had spells with Swansea and Darlington before arriving at Oldham Athletic last summer where he scored 13 goals in 38 league games before being sold to The Addicks for £20,000 two weeks ago.
