High School must complete a project on an approved topic. Megan Cox decided she wanted


her work to be expressive of herself. It is why she has decided to raise


awareness of epilepsy, a recurrent dis- order of the nervous system she was diagnosed with in February 2009. Te project culminated in a 5-K


run May 8 that raised $500 for the Epilepsy Foundation. “I wanted to give back something


that was personal,” she said of her project. Ever since Cox began taking regu-


lar medication, she has not had any seizures that are a common side effect of the disease. Te race at the high school brought


out many supporters, including the entire girls’ soccer team who made an additional donation on top of its entry fee. Mike Sprinkle won the race, Karsten Sluder finished second and
