Shooting hoops with Davy and Hoss

two of television’s biggest stars during the 1950s and 1960s, both literally and figuratively. Parker, who is best remembered
for his roles as legendary frontiersman Davy Crockett, towered 6-foot-6, an imposing frame that ruined his bid of piloting in the armed services. Blocker, better known as “Hoss” Cartwright from “Bonanza,” stood roughly 6-foot- 3 and sometimes tipped the scale at a hefty 300 pounds. But, to Beech resident Tom Law-
