Tailgate market readies for second season

goods are right around the corner. Te Weaverville Tailgate Mar-
ket will be kicking off its second season April 14 at the Weaverville Community Center with a variety of kids’ activities, live music and
demonstrations. One of the demonstrations will
be tips on rolling a tasty pie crust by Asheville-based piemaker Tru- dy Cottone. Cottone got into the pie busi-
ness in 2007 after nearly 30 years in restaurants. “I decided to do just one item
and do it well,” she said of her de- cision to dedicate her craft to just one aspect of food enterprises. Her business Auntie M’s Pie
Company is one of roughly 25 vendors scheduled for this year’s market. Everything from fresh vegetables to seafood as well as plants and handmade crafts will be available. Last year’s market proved a suc-
cess among area shoppers, prompt- ing the Weaverville Town Council to approve operation at the com- munity center for another season. Te market will operate from
2:30 pm to 6:30 pm every Wednes- day at the community center locat- ed near Lake Louise.
