FXTM. Will forex brokers, which
business model is to concentrate on the forex market, have to swap from MT4 to MT5? For how long will you continue supporting MT4?
AS. No, we don’t force anyone to
move to the new platform. If a broker still finds that MetaTrader 4 is enough, and he does not want to switch over to MetaTrader 5, he can continue using the previous platform. We understand all the difficulties that
a brokerage company may confront during transition to new soſtware. And we do not want to speed up this process. Let every broker decide when their company will be able to switch over to MetaTrader 5. Until then, brokers can use MetaTrader 4 and be sure that we will keep supporting the platform.
FXTM. Is there a difference in the
program execution speed? If yes, how much faster is MT5 compared to MT4?
AS. Yes, of course. Although I can’t say
for sure by how many times MetaTrader 5 is faster than MetaTrader 4. It all depends on the specific components of the platform. For example, MQL5 is about 10 times faster than MQL4. At the same time, the MetaTrader 5 trade server can process 20-25 times more trading operations per second, as compared with MetaTrader 4. Tere are many parameters for evaluating the
speed of the platform. Tey all show that MetaTrader 5 is much faster than its predecessor.
FXTM. Is MetaTrader 5 compatible with MetaTrader 4?
AS. Many developers have written strategies in MQL4. Can they migrate strategies in MQL5 easily, or do they have to re-write all programs in MQL5? Unfortunately,
terminals of
MetaTrader 5 and MetaTrader 4 are not compatible. True, both programs have similar interface. But these are two completely different terminals with different trading systems, different databases of quotes, development environments and so on. Of course, this creates additional difficulties for traders. But that is the cost of progress. MetaTrader 5 and all its components are much better than MetaTrader 4, it’s a new stage. But this required sacrificing compatibility. It is the same with the development
environment of automatic trading systems. Te core of the development environment in MetaTrader 5 is the programming language MQL5. And in order to give traders new opportunities, we had to rewrite everything from scratch, and make a fundamentally different language. Tat is, in this case compatibility was also the price for the new opportunities. But this should not be feared. At the
stage of testing, we found that traders quickly learn the new MQL5 language and easily rewrite their own programs. Moreover, we always support
traders who write their own programs using MQL5. We have launched a

MQL5.community, which incorporates plenty of useful and unique information on the development and use of trading robots. Plus to that, recently we launched a new Jobs service on this website. With it, a trader can ordered a required program from any developer. For example, this can be an order for rewriting a MQL4- indicator into MQL5.
FXTM. For forex retail traders, what
does MetraTrader 5 offer which other forex platforms don’t provide?
AS. Let’s call one of the advantages
of MetaTrader 5 “all-in-one”. You can find different purely analytical or purely trading soſtware. In MetaTrader 5, these functions are combined, which is very convenient. Moreover, our terminal offers a
significant bonus in the form of an integrated development environment MQL5. Tis is one of the most powerful development environments for writing trading robots. MQL5 IDE is integrated directly into the MetaTrader 5 terminal. You use the single terminal to analyze and trade, to develop automated trading programs, test them and let them trade. Another difference is our strong
support of the community of traders. Very few soſtware developers spend time and money to help traders. But we do it. We develop special websites; we publish books and tutorials, pay for the publication of articles, conduct championships of trading robots and much more. We not just provide the software, but we are creating the infrastructure around it.
