WORKPLACE FIRE SAFETY
Employers have responsibility for ensuring the health, safety and welfare of their employees and others who may have access to the workplace. These general duties include safety in relation to fire hazards, both from the work processes and activities, as well as general fire safety in the workplace. Employers must carry out a fire risk assessment, although this can be done as part of their general risk assessment. The risk assessment is to enable employers to identify and then take steps to eliminate, reduce or control safety risks (including risks from fire) to make sure that no one gets hurt or becomes ill.
The Health and Safety Executive is a great source of information, or you may wish to consult your local Fire officer.
CONTROL OF SUBSTANCES HAZARDOUS TO HEALTH - COSHH
Using chemicals or other hazardous substances at work can put people's health at risk. So the law requires employers to control exposure to hazardous substances to prevent ill health.
It doesn’t take a huge stretch of the imagination to realise that even if someone is working on a voluntary basis, if they are exposed to chemicals (such as pesticides, weedkiller etc) as part of their work, the organisation needs to take sensible steps to ensure their safety.
The Health and Safety Executive is a great source

They are a LANTRA registered Training Organisation and an accredited forklift training company with ITSSAR (Independent Training Standards Scheme & Register). They are also members of RBAT (Rural Business Advice & Training Network)
A daily demand for training skills is constantly generated from a mixture of new job opportunities for candidates re-training for work, to the requirements
of the Health & Safety at Work Act.
Managing Director Linda Ford is enthusiastic to help identify the training needs of their clients.
“Helping businesses to grow and stay ahead in the legislative minefield is all part and parcel of our role”, says Linda. “Most businesses are aware of the benefits of having an ongoing training plan but its not until they see the financial benefits of a well trained, highly motivated work force that they really start to reap the benefit”.
Linda is dedicated in giving the very best in customer care, and is proud of the quality of training the company offers. “There is nothing more motivating than receiving a thank you call from a recent trainee who been promoted as a result of attending one of our courses.”
