ELLIE Tait - fearless in a male- dominated industry having previously worked at a top football club. Made the glamorous career change from blue-chip companies to the turf industry in 2001 and has never looked back. Is happy in the company of groundsmen. We should hope so - her other half is Head Groundsman at NEC Harlequins. Despite her young years, she has a daughter, Charlotte who at 4 years old prefers to ride her Kubota tractor rather than her new, pink bike. She also has three step-kids, the oldest of which is just embarking on a career as a groundsman, following the family tradition. Dad has taught the kids well. They can be found pitchside at Quins’ home games glaring at anyone who dares to step on the hallowed turf. Ellie is always desperately short of spare time, but manages to dance Salsa, visit the gym and take the family ‘darn sarf ’ to support the Mighty Quins.
