Brazilian Navy chooses Becker Avionics 406 MHz GPS Personal Locator Beacon MR510

Becker Avionics, a leading provider of Personal Locator Beacons/Emergency Radios, recently announced that the Brazilian Navy has chosen the MR510 Personal Locator Beacon/Emergency Radio, with embedded GPS receiver tech- nology as its newest personal location beacon.

The MR510 is the only

Personal Locator Beacon on the market which provides an inte- grated, extractable 3-band VHF/UHF antenna and an inte- grated GPS antenna in a single compact housing.

The MR510 targets profes- sionals that desire the highest reliability and performance when it comes to survival equipment. Activated man- ually or automatically, the unit alerts rescue services that the user has encountered a life threat- ening situa- tion. The device bene- fits from a built in

12-channel GPS to transmit a highly accurate location via the global COSPAS SARSAT 406MHz search and rescue satellite communication system. The integrated GPS enables professional rescue services to greatly reduce their search time if the unit is activated in the most remote locations, on land, at sea or in the air. “We are extremely pleased with the quality and perform- ance of the new MR510. The unit functions accurately and reliably in the most challenging environments regardless of weather or geographical condi- tions,” said Otto Bommer, Vice President of Product Development at Becker Avionics. He continued “The MR510 with embedded voice communication and GPS tech- nology offers users the best pos- sible safety device available, par- ticularly if an emergency occurs in a remote location where there is no mobile phone cover- age.”

The order of the Brazilian Navy, in excess of 100 units, will be delivered within the next 2 months.
