WORLDWIDE MONITORING OF AERONAUTICAL TESTS

Proximity and reactivity are key points for customers as mechanical tests become more complex and schedules are tightened

As one of the world leaders in testing, inspection, certification and technological services, and as a Spanish multinational leader in the field of activity, it was logical that Airbus Spain considered Applus+ as a main partner for its test activities. There was also interest from all Airbus National Companies (NatCos) to use the singular testing facilities of Applus+ LGAI (as the 12x12 m strong floor (1MN/m2) or the high power 2.5 MN or 15 MN universal MTS test machines).

Bringing Applus+ facility to the customer

The basic idea of e-Testing was to offer the user a real-time service able to provide all the information they require by witnessing the test in situ (video; real-time data; document library; management tools) on their personal computer. In addition, it was important to build this service as a test platform that could be used by the customer to share test results with collaborators located on distant sites, always in real-time, with an appropriate level of protection and confidentiality.

e-Testing: A laboratory on your desk

e-Testing is an exclusive virtual test monitoring system developed by Applus+ LGAI. Through this innovative procedure, customers can view, follow and control remotely (via Web) all relevant parameters in a test, providing immediate access to information with significant cost reduction. This platform allows the user to quickly and safely access the information related to the test. Data reporting and deliverables can be created automatically, reducing time and costs associated with the procedure.

e-Testing integrates a communication work- flow making it possible to programme manual or automatic alarms and warnings in order to show the user any incidence during the tests. IP video technology is also available on this

platform, allowing the user to follow the test watching streamed video images.

e-Testing for FullScale HTP A350 XWB tests in Getafe Facilities (Airbus Military)

e-Testing was initially developed to promote the Applus+ LGAI test facility. This service was so in line with current customer expectations that Applus+ LGAI has been selected to implement e- Testing services to monitor the A350 HTP full scale test in the customer’s own laboratory located in Getafe. This technology has already been applied to simple tests in universal machines, but this will be the first time it will be used to distribute the large quantity of data that is generated in a full scale model.

The e-Testing platform is fully compatible with the data acquisition equipment certified for the structural and mechanical testing in the aeronautical field. The data acquired with the e- Testing platform does not affect the data obtained with traditional systems.

Applus+ LGAI has developed an online application that enables monitoring from a simple coupon test to full scale models. Furthermore, this application can support different mechanical tests, such as static and dynamic. The application is installed in a Server which is connected to the Web. Then, a user can visualise the real data of the test performed in another world location. This user only needs a standard Internet navigator to access all data recorded and control the test due to the video streaming of the IP cameras.

The HTP full scale model test is a complex system to check if the structure behaviour is the correct one. e-Testing allows the user to enter the prediction for different types of sensors in a wide range of graphical representations and the test can be stopped at any time to check that control and acquisition are working correctly.
