Prize Lists for 2010 HITS Saugerties Spring and Summer Series Now Available

Saugerties, New York - Prize lists are now available for the 2010 HITS Saugerties Spring and Summer Show Series, which will take place May 26 - June 13 and July 21 - August 8 at HITS-on-the-Hud- son in Saugerties, New York. The prize list for the fall series, September 1-12, will be sent later this summer.

In addition to the 12 Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix Qualifiers worth a total of $650,000 in prize money, the HITS Saugerties Spring and Summer Series will offer a variety of new and exciting classes through- out the six-week of shows. As the Pfizer Million approaches, top high-performance riders from around the country are already setting plans to compete in Saugerties this summer to earn the eight Grand Prix classes needed to become eligi- ble and bank some pre- cious prize money to secure a spot in the Top 40 of the Pfizer Million Rider Rankings. Not only does HITS Sauger-

ties provide the ultimate horse show experience, but the beautiful Sauger- ties facility also offers competitors the opportu- nity to make Saugerties a “home away from home” with the return its remarkably cost efficient Layover Stabling Pack- ages.

HITS is excited to provide exhibitors a wide variety of new classes for the Spring and Summer Show Series. In line with the latest hunter develop- ments, HITS Saugerties is pleased to announce it will feature a $10,000 Hunter Derby for each week of the competi- tions. Back by popular demand, a $500 Bit O’ Straw Hunter Classic will also be held at each show of the series. Addi- tionally, there exists a multitude of opportuni- ties for those looking to gain experience for up and coming young hors- es, as the Adequan Hunter division has been expanded to include a total of five classes and will be offered every week, as will the new

2’6” HITS Hunter Divi- sion.

Ponies as well as horses will have the opportunity to vie for appealing prize money while gearing up for Pony Finals as they take advantage of the two- round Classic format in the very popular $5,000 Pony Commotion Hunter Classic Week VI. Previ- ously, the Marshall & Sterling Children’s Pony Medal had not been split. However, this year the M&S Children’s Pony Medal is set up to have two sections, one for Small/Medium ponies and one for Large ponies so that they each earn separate points towards both year-end awards and Marshall & Sterling Finals.

Good times can be had by all in the Sauger- ties Team Relay which will take place on Fri- day, July 30. This is a fun class for juniors, amateurs and profession- als to assemble teams of three and adorn team “costumes” to compete in a Nations-cup style class. A maximum of 12

teams will be accepted for this crowd-pleasing sporting event. The team with the best time and the least amount of faults will earn bragging rights, ribbons and fun awards from the spon- sors who get involved. Jumper riders can choose from a full schedule at the 2010 HITS Saugerties Spring and Summer Series, as numerous classes and

prize money and will be split by juniors and ama- teurs if entries warrant. A $3,500 Low Junior/Amateur Jumper Classic will also be offered each week. Dur- ing weeks I and IV, Children’s/Adult Jumpers will jump for increased prize money in the $10,000 Marshall & Sterling Children’s/Adult Jumper Classic.

A $10,000 Welcome Stake as well as a $5,000 Open Speed will take place every week, in addition to a $25,000 Grand Prix each Friday. The Sunday Grand Prix schedule includes a $50,000 Grand Prix Weeks I and IV, a $75,000 Grand Prix Weeks II and V, and a $125, 000 Grand Prix Weeks III and VI. In all, the Open Jumper division will offer over $700,000 during the six weeks, and will offer rid- ers additional opportuni- ties to accrue money for the Pfizer Million Eligi-

ble Rider Rankings. Equitation riders will have their own chance to be in the spot- light too, in the $10,000 HITS-on-the-Hudson Equitation Challenge Week VI. The class will be open to junior riders who have placed in the top six of any USEF Medal, ASPCA Maclay, WIHS Hunter, WIHS Jumper, WIHS Overall, PHA Medal, or M&S Junior Medal over the course of Weeks IV-VI. A sep- arate prize list will be produced and mailed over the summer for the HITS Saugerties September shows (September 1-11), the Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix (September 12) and the Marshall & Sterling Finals (September 16- 19). for the Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix, a rider must compete in eight or more HITS Grand Prix class- es.
