Your move – in at number one!
Your Move says that it has become the largest individual estate agency in the UK, with 336
branches, following its acquisition of 101 Halifax branches at the end of last year. Staffing levels have also increased overall with 1550 employees. (Countrywide is a larger group with 1100 branches operating under all its different brands.) David Newnes, MD, Your Move, said, “This deal has rocketed us into the Number One spot. Your Move’s investment in staff really
paid-off in 2009 - our volume of complaints is at an all-time low. We have spent the last two months retraining hundreds of new staff. We’re the biggest, the best and we want customers to know they can trust us. Your-move. co.uk is now the most visited estate agency website in the UK. As part of the integration project, we have also invested heavily in placing properties on the major property portals to raise the online profile of our customer’s properties.” Your Move is smartening up its
offering with a £1.5m programme to give its branches new fascias.

Winkworth says Florida’s hot!
In a new report on the Florida property market, Winkworth International
Developments says that the Sunshine State will be the top place for overseas buyers in 2010. They forecast that investor confidence will flow back into the US real estate market and house price declines will abate by early to mid 2010. New home sales should see an increase of around 20 per cent from the very low levels seen in 2009. Charles Peerless, Director,
Winkworth International Developments comments, “Florida’s loss can be a UK
buyer’s gain. With low prices on a wide range of top quality luxury homes and condominiums in world class developments, combined with a favourable exchange rate and low interest rates, buyers who seek sun, golf and wide ranging lifestyle attractions can now buy a home here for about half what they would have paid in 2005.” “For international buyers,
2010 will be a great time to buy in Florida,” agreed Sean Snaith, economics professor and forecaster for the University of Central Florida in Orlando. “The imbalance of supply and demand puts the
buyer in the driving seat. Large inventory, pricing power and the continuing weakness of the dollar when compared to other currencies mean awesome deals in the housing sector.” The 2009 Florida Realtors’
Profile of International Homebuyers says that 14 per cent of foreign buyers in Florida bought a new build, while the remaining 86 per cent of foreign buyers bought an existing property. To capitalise on this trend,
Winkworth, already active in the International new homes market and they will launch a resale service for UK buyers.

become the UK’s largest current development when it begins and is expected to complete 450 units by the end of 2011. Simpson & Partners currently has 40 staff in six locations, with a seventh office planned in the centre of the development. Movewithus will partner with the agent to launch a Part Exchange and Conveyancing package to help purchasers with their move. Ian Fletcher, Movewithus’
Conveyancing Director, said, “We are delighted to be able to support Andrew and his team as they prepare for the Priors Hall Park development. We have a longstanding partnership and we wish Andrew every success.” Andrew Simpson added: “It’s
all about timing and in this market, when not many properties are for sale, but there’s a real need for sensibly priced homes in good locations, the Priors Hall Park announcement could not have come at a better time.”
