With Vanguard’s financial support and commitment to urban healthcare, DMC will continue to provide charitable care and serve as the healthcare safety net for Detroit today and into the future. Vanguard has made a long-term commitment to Detroit, and has already guaranteed that it will not close any DMC hospital in the next ten years.

An $850 Million Investment in Detroit’s Future. The Largest Private Investment in Detroit’s History

Vanguard’s $850 million investment in the DMC is the single largest private investment in our history. Detroiters should have the same access to care as citizens anywhere else. This strong financial foundation will preserve, protect and strengthen all of DMC’s hospitals for our future, including:

  

DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital – Modernizing the City’s historically revered “gemstone” hospital with modern patient rooms, and new state-of-the-art operating rooms

DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan – A new 175,000 square foot Children’s Hospital and a new four-story Pediatric Specialty Center for children

DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital – Doubling the size of the emergency room with new upgrades, adding a brand new 60,000 square foot Patient Care Ambulatory Center, and new intensive care unit beds to better serve patients

Additional upgrades and developments at Harper University Hospital and Hutzel Women’s Hospital, the Rehabilitation Institute, and a new Heart Hospital in the heart of Detroit, the DMC Cardiovascular Institute.

This investment in Detroit means as many as 5,000 new, diversified jobs in construction and development, not to mention the jobs that

will come in healthcare to staff and support these efforts.
