Mr. Andrews

was born on Feb. 9, 1964 in De- troit to J.C. and Mandy Andrews, the oldest of four children. He gradu- ated from Specs Howard School of Broadcasting and worked for WJLB and Radio One.

In 2009 he was

named a member of the prestigious Radio One Pres- ident’s Club for

ried the love of his life, Leslie. He was fami ly-oriented, instilling

Caldonia Rebecca Faustina Schultz

held for Caldonia Rebecca Faustina Schultz at Second Ebenezer Church, Jan. 30, with Pastor Lemar Tabb offici- ating. Mrs. Schulz, 90, died Jan. 20.

She was born

Jan. 14, 1920 in Sturgis, Ky., and moved to Detroit in 1928. She was edu- cated in the Detroit Public Schools.

She married

H’Lenardo Faus- tina II in 1939, and the late Bob Schul- tz in 1957.

Known “Mama as Callie,”

she was a politi- cal activist and de- voted member of the NAACP, March

Club, and the Elks Club. She was also deeply involved in the Detroit Busi- ness and Civic League, and served on the advisory committee. Her fa-

vorite pastime was spending time with the Brewster Old Timers. She en- joyed talking about the good old days.

She is survived

by her daughters, Roszetta, Suerita and Alita; sons, Michael, Orlan- do, Reginald and Robert; 29 grand- children; 36 great- grandchildren; 13 great-great-grand- children;

April 17, 1934. Her love for music led her into the field of education, where she served as music teacher at Mayberry El- ementary School from 1963 until her retirement in June 1999. She was held in high esteem by her pupils, who maintain

She was born

July 14, 1919 in Eastover, S.C., and later moved to De- troit.

She was em-

ployed with the U.S. Postal Service, and retired in 1986 after 15 years of service.

She was a

member of Spring- field

Baptist

Church, and then New Grace Baptist Church after she

moved to High- land Park. Later she joined Calvary Church of God in Christ, where she was

appointed

to the Mothers Board. She made every effort to visit the sick, encour-

age and guide the youth, and to show love to others.

She is survived

by her children, Marilyn Stokes, In- tisar Abdulghandi, Norman Lawson, Barbara

Mrs. Burton was

born on May 5, 1924 in Birming- ham, Ala. to the late Bessie Scott and Nathaniel Houser. She married the Rev. George Lee Burton in 1942 and was the first lady of Nazarene Bap- tist Church for 57 years and she was a Sunday school

Ira James Adams

held March 6 for Ira James Adams at Mt. Zion Mission- ary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. S.L. Jones officiating. Mr. Adams, 67, died Feb. 28.

Mr. Adams,

known as “Rick,” was born May 3, 1942, reared in the Russell Woods ne i ghb o rho o d , and educated in the Detroit Public Schools. He gradu- ated from Cass Technical

High

School, and later attended Wayne State University where he majored in pre-med and music.

career

His musical led him

all over the U.S. and abroad, as he played profession- ally with many famous entertain- ers and bands. He moved to New York

in the late 1960s. He was an accom- plished musician, teacher and stu- dent, and served as music director for several musical plays and produc- tions on Broadway. He was known as “The Man with the Golden Fingers” and “The Maestro.”

He also served as minister of

music in several churches in New York. However, his heart was still in the Motor City.

He returned to

Detroit in 1988, where he was em- ployed as a social worker for Way- to-Go Inc. and as a musician, he played for various churches and par- ticipated in many special events in the city. He served and supported the music department of Mt. Zion.

Mr. Adams is

survived by his daughter, Robin; grandsons, Kenny, James and Chris; great-granddaugh- ter, Alyssa; and many others.

Interment was at

Forest Lawn Ceme- tery. Arrangements were handled by Swanson Funeral Home.

Geneva Pennington

Services were

held for Geneva Pennington Feb. 26 at Swanson Funeral Home, with Pastor Woodrow Dawson, Jr. officiating. Mrs. Pennington,

80,

died Feb. 18. She was born

Oct. 29, 1929 in Delta, Ala., and was educated in the Delta public school system. She also graduated as a nurse in Lynch, Ky. She was em- ployed as a butch- er at Thorne Apple Valley Co.

She was a be- loved wife, step-

loving person who would do anything she could for you. Family and friends were very impor- tant to her.

Mrs. Pennington

is survived by her stepsons, Roger and Michael; step- daughters,

nette Bridwell and Paulette Griffin; nine

step-grand- mother, sister,

step-grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be remem- bered as a kind and

children; brother, Kelly Davis; sister, Jeanette Hender- son; and many others.

Johnnie Malone

Services were

held March 6 at Swanson Funeral Home for Johnnie Malone, with Paul Nguyen officiating. Mr. Malone, 60, died Feb. 27.

He was born

March 3, 1949, and educated in the Detroit Public Schools. He at- tended both East- ern High School and Northeastern High School, and was an all-Ameri- can football player.

He later joined the U.S. Air Force,

1980, he returned to Detroit.

Mr. Malone was

loved for his kind heart, sense of humor,

helping

hand and wisdom. He was a father figure to those who didn’t have one, as well as a shoulder to cry on.

He is survived

and subsequently moved to Utica, New York. There, he married his wife, Ella in 1978. In

Raymond Thomas

Services were

held recently for Raymond Thomas. Mr. Thomas, 86, died March 3.

He was born

March 24, 1923, and moved to De- troit a decade later. In 1941, he joined the Civilian Con- servation Corps. He was employed by the Kelsey Hayes Automotive Com- pany for 37 years. He loved to travel, and especially en- joyed road trips where he could use his CB radio.

Edmund Philip Morgan

the Rev. Edmund Philip Morgan were held on March 24 at Unity Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Valmon D. Stotts officiating. Mr. Morgan, 51, died on March 16.

Mr. Morgan was

born on Aug. 30, 1958 in Detroit to Elder James W. Morgan and Vera Lee Morgan. He grew up in a mu- sical

family and

played lead guitar. Educated in the Detroit

public

school system, he furthered his edu- cation at Marygrove College where he earned his Bach-

elor of Science degree in Comput- er Science. He mar- ried on April 28, 1984 and worked

as a programmer for Volvo and other corporations for 20 years.

joyed sports, chess and movies.

George Thomas Ford

He was born

March 4, 1916 in Montgomery, Ala., and moved to De- troit in 1921. He at- tended the Detroit Public Schools and graduated

from

Northeastern High School in 1935.

He worked for

the Abner Wolf Company until his employment with the City of Detroit Department

of

Transportation. He was employed for 37 years as a bus driver and was one of the first African

Americans hired. He married the

late Camilla Haugh- ton in 1938.

He loved sports,

and played base- ball as a young man, and dabbled in photography. He was also an avid model train enthu-

siast at one time. He was a devot-

ed husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather

and

great-great-grand- father.

He is survived

by his children, George Jr., Delo- ris Ford Smith, Gerald, Carolyn Ford Hardeman, Kenneth, Janice Ford Dardy, Leon- ard, Stephen and Kevin; 20 grand- children; 21 great- grandchildren; six great-great-grand- children; brother, Richard;

Sheria Snowden

She was born

June 5, 1954 in Selma, Ala., and grew up in Pen- sacola, Fla. She worked

for a

number of years at Pensacola Junior High School. She later became em- ployed at the Bap- tist Hospital

in

Pensacola. She re- located to Detroit and became an entrepreneur. She
