TOUGH RYDER
“You
have
got to
get lucky in
terms of the
form, you need
all the team playing
consistently close
to the best of their
abilities rather than just in
one game.”
Dredge and Johnson led the
Wales team, along with Richard
Dinsdale, Calvin O’Carroll, Craig
Evans and Mike Macara.
So what advice would he give the
generation of players taking part in this year’s
European Amateur Team Championships in
Conwy, a course he describes as tough but
fair.
“Golf is always an individual sport, even
though you are playing in a team. It is about
getting the best score you can on each day,
rather than relying on your teammates,” he
said.
“Thinking others will score and yours may
not count - that is not really the best mindset.
Whether it is 85 or 65, you have to get the
best score you can.”

Dredge hopes Wales will be able to repeat
the triumph he enjoyed in 1993 – and he
Bradley Dredge
can recapture that magic to get back into
DOB 6th July 1963
contention for the Ryder Cup.
