Mark Seymour has gathered awards – and a national reputation – through
development of a distinctive monochrome photojournalistic wedding style.
Low light, low profile, no flash, fast prime lenses and quick reflexes…

ark Seymour is not
worried by the influx of
part-timers hitting the
wedding sector with
the encouragement of societies,
seminars, shows and lecture-circuit
crowd pullers. “They can’t do what
I do”, he says, adding that for 2009
he has 57 weddings booked.
He won’t spend a minute in
front of a computer screen either,
as he brings in two freelances
whose work he can trust. They
handle all the post-processing
and follow his instructions for
album design. The wedding couple
doesn’t interfere with this process,
any more than they do with his
photography.
“Sometimes I have never met
the couple before the wedding – it
might be 100 miles away and they
have booked after visiting my web-
site, usually on recommendation”,
he admits. “During the wedding
