that you don’t have to go every
time, but you can find like-minded
people if you drop in”.
“Everyone chips in £10 for the
speaker and pays for their own
meal”, says Finch. “It’s voluntarily
run and the speakers come for free
– we just cover their expenses and
give them a nice bottle of wine.
We don’t make a profit and any
extra money goes to charity – over
the last couple of years we’ve do-
nated £4,000 to the MPA-support-
ed charity PACE (which provides
intensive input for children with
motor disorders such as cerebral
palsy). There are no airs and graces,
it’s a very friendly event.’
And plus, he laughs; it’s really
excellent food.
