Change of initial entry format
for annual awards
A COMPLETE makeover for the entry method and rules for the national
annual exhibition comes with a change of name to The Master Photogra-
Lisa Visser’s Photographer of the Year winner for 2008. The
phy Awards. The first entry round will now require unmounted prints of the

pictures for the final judging.
The rules for making the Entry Print are simple, it should show the
judges your photography as clearly as possible in its own right.
The final exhibition print must be mounted, 20 x 16" in size and up to
7mm total thickness. Creative mount design may be incorporated photo-
graphically or digitally. For smaller prints mounted on the 20 x 16 (like
the 2008 winner from Lisa Visser, right) a mount overlay or matte with up
to two layers may be used. A full resolution image file must exist for the
entry and the same file – without any changes – must be used for both
the Entry and finished exhibition print.
The Entry Print may be on any type of paper – gloss, matt, lustre, high
gloss, watercolour, textured art. This can include pearl, metallic, warmtone
or other base colours. The print may be photographic, dye sublimation,
inkjet or other photographic or photomechanical methods but the proc-
ess used for the Entry Print MUST match the final print, including the
laboratory or printer used, the inks and materials.
When submitting a shortlisted entry as a finished 20 x 16", you will
be required to provide on CD an unmodified full resolution file saved as This is what an entry
