Chairman of the Coastal Classic
Dear Friends,
On behalf of the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation, it gives me great
pleasure to invite you to participate in the 17th annual New Hanover Regional Medical
Center's Coastal Classic Celebrity Golf Tournament being held Friday, May 1, and Saturday,
May 2, 2009.
For the past 16 years, this tournament has raised more than $2 million to support patient
care programs, services and equipment at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. The 2009 Tournament will
continue its tradition of fun, entertainment, and of course, great golf but with a few changes. Due to current
economic conditions, this year's Tournament will feature our world-famous player packs for all participants,
regional sports talent, and a Friday evening social hour, dinner and entertainment event followed by a Saturday of
golf at the Pete Dye Course at Landfall. The tournament will wrap up on Saturday afternoon with an Awards
Ceremony sponsored by our long-time host Outback Steakhouse. This year's proceeds will benefit the patients and
family members receiving care at Cape Fear Hospital.
Over the past two years, Cape Fear Hospital has undergone extensive renovations to provide a patient and
family-centered care environment. These enhancements will not only benefit the patients we serve at Cape Fear,
they will also help NHRMC continue to be one of the very best orthopedic specialty hospitals in the region. With
infrastructure and private room renovations now complete, we are focusing on those items that will help support
this vision of family-centered care. Proceeds from this year's Coastal Classic will be used to purchase and install a
wireless communications network for patients and families.
