Where There's a Will, There's a Way...
to Make the Gift you've Always Wanted
The New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation has been the proud recipient of many planned gifts over the
past 17 years from thoughtful and generous people who considered support of the Medical Center an important priority
and wanted to ensure their support continued for the future.
A gift through a Will or estate plan is one of the easiest planned giving tools and can provide meaningful and
significant support for the important works and programs at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. An estate gift enables
the donor to distribute assets to New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation in the amounts or proportions they
wish and, oftentimes, when coupled with other gift instruments, may provide a legacy or a family naming opportunity
within the Medical Center.
But most important, a gift through your estate allows for the opportunity to make a significant gift that will ensure the
future of quality healthcare while preserving assets during life and, the opportunity to designate a gift to a specific program
or department that is important to your family, such as the Cameron Women's & Children's Hospital, Cardiac Rehab or
Zimmer Cancer Center. Such a gift can often be arranged with a simple addition of a codicil (amendment) to your existing
Will noting the NHRMC Foundation as the beneficiary. If you don't currently have a Will or are considering making
changes to your existing one, here are some designations you can make to include NHRMC Foundation in your gift plans:
• A Specific Bequest allows you to state a specific dollar amount, a specific piece of property, or a stated percentage
of the estate to the Foundation. This is one of the most popular forms of bequest designations.
• A Residuary Bequest is one in which the NHRMC Foundation receives all or a stated percentage of an estate after
distribution of other bequests and payment of debts, taxes and expenses.
• A Contingent Bequest is where the NHRMC Foundation receives all or part of an estate under certain specified circumstances.
In whatever manner you may be planning a gift, what’s important is that your wishes of how your legacy gift will
impact the lives of the patients we serve and the needs of the nurses and staff at New Hanover Regional Medical Center
are realized. The NHRMC Foundation is the catalyst to make those wishes a reality. If you have provided for New
Hanover Regional Medical Center in your Will or estate plans, please let us know, we would like to recognize your
support and thoughtfulness.
New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation recommends consulting your trusted financial professional or
attorney for advice on the type of planned gift that is best for you and your family.
