Looking for a way to work with jazz music
and younger students? Try
http://pbskids.org/jazz/index.html (no www). There
are lots of fun activities for kids in grades 3-6 that
help them learn about the world of jazz music and
the people who play it.
Finally,
www.classicsforkids.com/ has a lot
of different activities for a variety of units. I’ve
found this site to be especially helpful for composer
research in fifth grade, and for getting new ideas for
myself!
Don’t be afraid to get out there and play – and don’t be afraid to learn from your students!
They’re terrific teachers if you give them a chance!
