Implementation
The goal of this project is to put iPods and portable speakers in the hands of the two Elementary
music teachers, Barbara Packales and Justin Walton, for the school year beginning August 27, 2008. The
Gardiner Area Music Boosters has already allotted monies for the project in their previous budget. Online
cost and model research was done by David Walker, Fine Arts Chair with assistance from Barbara Packales,
Elementary Music specialist in July of 2008. (See Appendix B)

Although purchase of the equipment was done early to take advantage of current pricing, the actual
set up of the two iPods could not take place until the end of August. Barbara Packales will upload all CDs
and then load both iPods for herself and for Justin Walton. The date of August 26 was chosen as it is the
start of the school year for MSAD #11. The iPods would be ready for the first day of classes.
Outcomes
The outcomes should begin to be evident in the first week of implementation.
•
There will be fewer items to carry around from place to place and the portability of the speakers them-
selves will be beneficial.
•
Each teacher will have much easier access to CDs for whatever venue they choose.
•
Lessons will be more enriched with the addition of multimedia, movies and immediate availability of
songs to fit curriculum units.
•
Auditory assessments are easily accessible by the student and teacher for immediate feedback.
•
The cost is affordable and the system is easy to use.
