Volume 2012 Issue 11 PRINCIPAL’S REPORT


Term 3 has kicked off at full steam ~ so much has been happening that I had to remind myself yesterday that it was less than two weeks since the holidays. I will talk about three highlights from the last couple of weeks.


Lions Cowra Citizen of the Year Last week I was informed that Miss Cheryl McAlister of the HSIE staff was awarded the Lions Club of Cowra’s Citizen of the Year. In Miss McAlister’s usual

outstanding efforts with the Rural Fire Service. Luke along with a number of other young people from across the state was awarded a Black Opal Certificate as part of


the


Premier’s Youth Volunteering scheme. This acknowledged that Luke has dedicated more than 80 hours voluntarily to the Rural Fire Service. I often take for granted how giving our students at Cowra High are, so it is great to be reminded just how special that is ~ well done Luke, an award well earned.

She has received this award for her outstanding contribution to the students of Cowra High over many years, with particular acknowledgement of her building of connections with our Aboriginal community and the fantastic outcomes she achieves for Cowra High Aboriginal students. Congratulations Miss McAlister ~ a very well earned accolade.


Rhapsody On Tuesday night I had the pleasure of being in the audience of another fantastic Drama performance. The scope of talent was amazing and a great reflection of the preparation and time put in by the staff & students studying Drama. It was particularly pleasing to see so many younger students performing. This bodes well for Drama into the future.


In the audience we laughed at many funny


performances, we were entranced by high drama and we cried as a result of some very touching performances ~ in all a great night for anyone who braved the cold to attend. I encourage you to attend any future performances ~ you won’t disappointed.
