LEARN EARN LEGENDS PROGRAM Last week, ex Australian Wallabies player,

Jim

Williams, visited the school to outline a new mentoring School-to-Work program for Aboriginal students, called Learn Earn Legends. The aim of the program is to guide and assist students in reaching their potential in order to secure employment or a place in a tertiary education institution. This program is funded by the Federal Government and co-ordinated by NSW Rugby. Ten Cowra High students from Years 11 & 12 have been selected among 70 students from six city and six country (Cowra, Parkes, Forbes, Bathurst, Orange & Mudgee) high schools in NSW to be part of the inaugural program.

COWRA HIGH SCHOOL NEWSLETTER HOLMAN PLACE VISIT

Recently some students from Holman Place School visited during a Wednesday afternoon sport session to work with the Aboriginal Dance Group. The Holman Place students were keen to learn some Aboriginal animal dance movements to add to their Eisteddfod item. Both groups of students had a great time. The Holman Place students showed themselves to be fantastic at imitating kangaroos. They then showed us their Eisteddfod item which featured song & dance from a number of countries. The visit was also a chance for Holman Place student, Jakayla Cutmore to show her class mates how much she had learnt by attending the Aboriginal dance group every sport session this term.
