Page 3 CHILDREN’S SELF PUBLISHING WORKSHOP
On Tuesday 24 April, some students from the Year 11 & 12 Aboriginal Studies classes attended a Children’s Self Publishing Workshop conducted by the Lady Gowrie Centre, held at the Yalbillinga Community Outreach building.
The aims of this workshop were to learn how to make your own books which can then be published and to allow the creation of relevant books about culture, heritage, country & traditions. It is hoped that literacy will be improved as young children will be more interested in reading if they are in the books. Some photos of the Year 11 students reading at Yalbillinga were used to make books. Our students also learned some useful tips and techniques which could be used in the presentation of their Major Projects, which is a requirement of the Year 12 Aboriginal Studies course.
Thank you to the Read With Me 32 team for inviting our students to be involved in this interesting and creative activity.
