Volume 2012 Issue 6 PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Welcome to Term 2 I hope everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing holiday and is ready for another exciting term.
ANZAC Day
The School held a commemorative assembly on Tuesday 24 April. The ceremony was attended by Mayor, Bill West; P&C President, Mr Ian Acret; & RSL Sub Branch President, Mr Bob Dooley. Students were very touched by Mr Derek Clements personal account of his war experiences.
Thank you to Ms Keefe, Ms Chant & Ms O’Dea for the fantastic school assembly ~ I was particularly proud of the very respectful manner all students displayed during the assembly.
Students and staff of Cowra High commemorated ANZAC Day by marching in the town ceremony. School Captains, Dimas Bakini & Anna White confidently spoke at the commemorative ceremony in front of a very large crowd. Thank you to Ms Robinson for her organisation.
State Dance Ensemble Congratulations to Hope Martin-Edgar Year 7 & Thalia Nelligan Year 9 on being selected as part of the NSW State Dance Ensemble ~ this is a great acknowledgment of the growing dance talent present at Cowra High.
Trade Training Centre Opening Tuesday 1 May we officially opened our Trade Training Centre. This was a significant opportunity to promote the outstanding skills our students are developing in these state of the art facilities. The Mayor and industry representatives present were very impressed with the outstanding equipment our students now use on a regular basis.
End of an Era The end of Term 1 also saw the end of an era ~ Judy Reynolds, Head Teacher English, retired after dedicating more than 30 years to the education of young people all over western NSW. Cowra High particularly will miss her incredible insight and experience. I wish Judy all the best in this new phase of her life and I am confident that Judy’s positive approach will ensure an exciting change.
Have a great fortnight Charles Gauci
Cadets, Briana Ashlin & Matthew Weeden, who performed the flag raising at our school commemorative service
