Invited guests who attended the opening DUBBO ABORIGINAL DANCE WORKSHOPS


On Monday & Tuesday of this week, twelve Cowra High students travelled to Dubbo to join students from ten other Western Region schools to take part in two days of Aboriginal dance workshops. Leading the workshops were two male dancers, Sidney Saltner & Sonny Townsend from Bangarra Dance Theatre, Australia’s leading Aboriginal dance group.


The students learned the choreography for the Aboriginal Dance Ensemble item at this year’s Schools Spectacular, which Sidney is in charge of. This item, called The Dreaming, comes from


Bangarra’s


performance repertoire. Also in attendance was staff from the Western Region and State Arts Units who were looking to select students for the 2012 NSW Public Schools Aboriginal Dance Company and the Western NSW Aboriginal Dance Ensemble.
