Round Hill Hotel and Villas Resort, in
Jamaica, has adjoining rooms in the main
hotel (designed by Ralph Lauren) for
families, villas with different room
combinations and a complimentary kids’
club. For older children, there are water-
sports, Hobie Cats, pedal boats, deep-sea
fishing and much more.
Half Moon, also in Jamaica, is great
for active families, as not only is there a
children’s village but a dolphin lagoon
and an equestrian centre for all abilities.
I have even swam with horses there.
Coral Reef Club, in Barbados, is a
stunning family-run hotel set in 12 acres.
Although it is not open to families from
mid-January till mid-March, dur-
ing the summer there are daily
complimentary activities for two-
to 12-year-olds, including sailing,
swimming and tennis lessons.
Soft adventure is becoming
more popular for families with
teenage children, and most
islands can offer this. Catamaran
day trips often include stop-offs at
a beach for a picnic or snorkelling
with turtles. Botanical gardens
and submarine trips are great for
younger explorers.
