Oasis ‘could sail
Europe in future’
OASIS of the Seas could sail in Europe, the ship’s
bosses have revealed.
President and chief executive Adam Goldstein
said no such cruises were imminent and that
Oasis, together with sister ship Allure of the
Seas, which launches next year, would be based
in Fort Lauderdale for the foreseeable future.
But he said they could end up going anywhere
in the world where the market supported them.
“As time goes on, more and more destinations
will invest in the infrastructure needed to allow
these ships to operate there,” he said. “We do
not have any concrete plans to have them in
Asia, but both Singapore and Hong Kong are
building terminals to handle Oasis-class ships.”
Oasis captain Bill Wright said various Mediter-
ranean ports such as Barcelona and Civitavec-
chia could comfortably handle these mega-ships.
“The width and depth are not an issue,” he
said. “With our advanced technology, we can
manoeuvre the ship with finite precision.”
