campaign to market its understanding of
diverse cultures around the world. HSBC’s
“power of local knowledge” campaign was so
successful that television, radio and display adverts are
still running to this day.
The bank wanted to promote itself as everyone’s
“local bank” and highlight how engaging with people
on a local level is one of the best ways to give
customers added value.
This philosophy is pertinent at all levels of business,
whether you are signing a multimillion-pound deal
with a company in the Middle East, entertaining
Japanese clients on a golf trip or booking a business
trip for a German managing director.
Living, working and travelling abroad is an
invaluable experience and something that can make
you stand out from the crowd. Such is the value placed
on it by employers, it could make the difference when
going for a job or promotion.
