New coaster speed record looms
When Ring Race, a new compressed air launch coaster from S&S Worldwide, debuts in July 2009, it will set a new land-
speed record for rollercoasters. Being built at the Nürburgring, a motorsport race track in Nürburg, Germany, Ring Race will

Miramiralls
A 21st Century hall of mirrors
Barcelona’s famous Tibidabo amusement park has found a new home for its
mirrors, first shown in the park over 100 years ago. But this isn’t any old hall
of mirrors. Located next to the park’s main entrance, Miramiralls features a
collection of classic convex and concave and mirrors coupled with state-of-
the-art technology.
The Euro.186450,000 project was overseen by Varis Arquitectes and features 13
mirrors split across 13 scenes. Guests can peer through the glass and see
optical illusions including a virtual rat, frog or a pumpkin that turns into a
carriage, or they can climb through an LED maze.
