No. 28 tram that carries you through the sloping streets of Alfama
and high up to the Castle of St. George. The residential Bairro Alto
area is Lisbon’s party zone.
SHOPPING
The elegant 19th century Chiado neighbourhood is the address of
the up-market shops, where you can review your purchases in
glamorous Art Nouveau cafés. Baixa is the major area for browsing,
while Feira da Ladra is the city’s most famous flea market.
GETTING AROUND
Stick to public transport; Lisbon’s shaky trams are all part of the city
experience. And get a Lisboa Card from a tourist office. It provides
unlimited travel, and free or discount admission to major attractions.
