11, 1927, at Batesville, and attend- ed schools in Del Rio. His parents were W.E. and Mildred Stroman Riggs. His father was a U.S. dep- uty sheriff and Texas Ranger. He was a lifelong rancher and in 1978, he and his wife Janie purchased the old Joe T. Davidson Ranch. According to the Texas Rodeo Hall of Fame, he was the Pecos calf roping champion in 1964 and he, along with Jim Bob Altizer, won the team roping title at Pecos in 1972. His last time to compete in Pecos was 1982, having compet- ed there for 30 years. Jackie Bob Riggs Cox, Jack’s daughter, won the Pecos Barrel Race buckle in 1965 at age 11. He is survived by his wife Janie, daughter Jackie and granddaughter Kelsey Dean; and numerous other relatives.
