DISTRICT 11 — NORTH TEXAS Saddles Stolen in North Texas Texas and Southwestern Cattle
Raisers Association (TSCRA) Special Ranger Troy McKinney reports the theft of 2 saddles from a property in Cooke County near Gainesville. Between Feb. 17 and 19, a thief or thieves stole 2 Marty Byrd 14-inch barrel saddles. They had roughout seats and fenders with basket weave skirts and leather-covered horns. DISTRICT 13 — EAST TEXAS Steer Missing in East Texas TSCRA Special Ranger Larry
Hand reports a steer missing, or possibly estray, from a property near Whitehouse in Smith County. The steer is a black Wagyu-Angus cross weighing approximately 600 pounds with no brand and a white ear tag. Central Texas
TSCRA Special Ranger Marvin Wills reports 16 head of yearlings missing from a property near Marlin in Falls County. The cattle are multi-colored and have a connected HF brand on the left hip. If you have any information regarding this case, please call Wills at 254-865-2571.
Carthage Cattle Thief Sentenced to 12 Years in Prison

CARTHAGE, TEXAS WOMAN WAS SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS IN PRISON ON FEB. 29, after pleading guilty to her involvement in the Sept. 30, 2014, theft of
12 head of cattle and ranching equipment from a Harrison County rancher. Harrison County 71st District Court Judge Brad Morin sentenced the
defendant, Stacie Laine Soape, 44, after reviewing the joint investigation by Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) Special Ranger Larry Hand and Harrison County Sheriff’s Investigator BJ Fletcher. Soape stole the cattle, with the help of 3 others involved in the theft
ring. The fi rst suspect, Michael Duane Nettles, 32, was sentenced to 35 years in prison on Feb. 18. The other 2 suspects, Alex Christopher Hin- ton, 36, and Elizabeth Ann Newton, 39, are out on bond and await trial in Harrison County. Soape’s previous felony convictions enhanced her theft of livestock of-
fense from a third degree felony to second-degree felony. Seven of the 12 cattle, three saddles, assorted tack and numerous power
tools were recovered in Panola County. Four black steers and 1 white heifer are still missing.
