BEREAVEMENTS


F.C. “Jack” Kingsbery died Feb. 25 in Kerrville. He was born May 26, 1922, in Santa Anna, to Howard T. and Mabel Woodward Kingsbery. He grew


up on the Kingsbery family ranch in Coleman County. Jack entered Texas A&M in the fall of 1941 as a member of the class of ’45. In September 1943, Jack entered the Army Air Corps and served in the 2nd Air Division, 8th Air Force, 458th bomb group, at Horsham St. Faith Air Base, Norwich, Norfolk, England. Kingsbery returned to Texas A&M in 1946, where he was president of


A&M’s Saddle and Sirloin Club and a charter member of the National Inter- collegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA). He designed a rodeo arena for Texas A&M and raised funds to build it. In later years, he and wife Evelyn became charter members of the NIRA Alumni Association and helped raise funds for rodeo scholarships. He married Evelyn Bruce, also from Santa Anna, on June 30, 1951. They


ranched in Zavala County near Batesville and Crystal City, raising Beefmas- ter and crossbred cattle, Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds. He acquired Mogford Manufacturing in 1963, making livestock squeeze chutes, and designed other ranch equipment. Kingsbery was elected to the board of the Federal Land Bank (now Capital Farm Credit Association) and served several terms. He wrote 2 best-selling books about his experiences in the cattle busi-


ness: “Cowboy Wrecks & Rattlesnakes” and “Yes, I’m Still Alive.” He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Bruce Kingsbery; children Ann Hill-

al Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA). He has served as interim CEO since June 2015. Frazier was raised on a diversifi ed cattle and grain operation in south-central Kansas. He is a graduate of Kan- sas State University and began his career as a farm broadcaster for WIBW Radio/Television be- fore joining the staff at Kansas Livestock Association as director of communications. He joined the staff of the National Cattlemen’s Association in 1985 and has held several staff leadership roles during his career with the asso- ciation.
