Strava partners of The Running Awards 2016 A


lue Max Banner (BMB) has acquired high performance, bespoke sportswear business Orion Teamwear. The acquisition will enable BMB to offer a new sportswear option in the form of ‘Teamwear Kit Design, in either cut and sewn or sublimated products. Nigel Plenderleith, BMB’s chief executive comments on the new addition: “Orion is a well- established brand not just in the schoolwear market but at a professional level too and comes with a strong customer base. Our focus will be to keep the creativity associated with the Orion brand and to add our excellent service and delivery capabilities in Trowbridge to bring delivery times and customer service levels to those we currently achieve across the rest of our business.” In other news, BMB has appointed Laura Thomas as group sales and marketing director with immediate effect. Laura has a long-standing and distinguished career in the sales and marketing of sportswear, having worked as a group marketing director/deputy managing director for Kukri Sports. She is also an ex- International Netball player. According to BMB, Laura’s appointment,


together with the acquisition of the Orion Teamwear brand, is evidence of the company’s commitment to create a strong, competitive and well-designed sportswear brand with an operational performance to match.

runners and cyclists through its mobile apps and website, will be hosting 100 key running press and fitness bloggers for a 5K Run with Strava and exclusive Q&A session. Paul Corrick, co-founder of The Running Awards commented: “We are excited to announce Strava as Official Partner and host of the inaugural Run with Strava at The Running Awards. Business secretary scrums down with England Rugby supplier

ith the Six Nations now underway, on 11 February business secretary Sajid Javid


visited Opro in Hemel Hempstead, the world’s largest manufacturer of mouthguards and official supplier to the England rugby team. UK based Opro now exports to 30 countries worldwide and supplies top national and international rugby teams from around the world. Opro also supplies mouthguards to over 1,000 schools and clubs from all over the UK. Dr Mike England, Rugby Football Union Community Rugby Medical Director said: “We’ve been working with Opro for a number of years, including through our All Schools programme. Their support of our player safety education embedded in that programme, and through the provision of their high quality mouth guards especially for the young players has been invaluable for the community game.” Sally Marshall, CEO of Dacorum Borough Council

International Business, Chinese language skills, and time spent living in Hong Kong to her new role working with the Chinese market. Sport in China remains an area with very high


potential for growth; with the 2022 Winter Olympics being held in Beijing, the winter sports boom is set to continue. To meet the needs of an ever-growing sports market, ISPO is restructuring its team in the country. Thomas Löffler commented on the restructuring of


the team: “Restructuring ISPO will enable the organisation to become a year-round partner for the industry in Asia. In addition to the trade fairs, ISPO will be able to offer its customers’ products online and offline over the course of the year and support them in their further development and growth.”
