Living With Cerebral Palsy: A Personal Perspective Presenter: Ben Cockram


A student transporter for 15 years, and diagnosed with cerebral palsy as an infant, Ben Cockram officially kicks off the conference by sharing his personal and professional experiences during a special general session* that will enlighten and touch attendees on the real, everyday challenges experienced by disabled students and the vital role transporters can play in helping these students live


a normal life. Team Special Needs Safety Roadeo participants are invited to attend this session prior to their banquet.


Rescue Medications on the School Bus Presenters: Dr. Joseph O’Neill, Sue Shutrump, Cheryl Wolf and Angela McDonald, RN After several years of work by a special committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a new policy directive was recently published on rescue medications, including Diastat and Epinephrine. In this general session, AAP’s Dr. Joseph O’Neill of Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis will provide an overview of the new guidance and will join a school nurse, a supervisory of occupational physical therapy and pupil transportation consultant to discuss what this means for communication districtwide as well as with parents and health providers.
