API 100 (seen in use in the image above) supports both print and non-print (surface) applications and it enables comprehensive and fast defect analysis and waste reduction by automatically and
instantly detecting occasional, continuous, and/or repeating defects. The system inspects the entire surface of the printed web, including every repeat, on any web width and at any press speed. Defects are automatically reported without operator intervention. The system features easy installation with one-touch template acquisition, with minimal setup time required during job changeover. It also includes job recipe storage and recall. Automatic detection levels can be set specifically to match inspection requirements on a current job in production. Full width 100 per cent inspection of every repeat ensures immediate detection and documentation showing when and where a particular defect started. API 100 includes comprehensive software, such as a touchscreen operator interface for defect mapping, trending, defect image display, zooming and alarming. The re-wind manager is used for easy defect removal at the re-winder stage. There is also a database with inspection results for each roll for later analysis. Production runs can be recorded from multiple production lines simultaneously, captured video images can be reviewed in real time or via automated defect detection and inspection software, and the API 100 can also load PDF design files for off-line copy control as well as real-time comparisons to downloaded PDF master templates.
