Bring a Potential Member to a 2016 Ranch Gathering; Be Entered to Win a Rustler By Curtis Younts, Association Promotion Committee chair

AM PLEASED TO REPORT THAT TEXAS AND SOUTHWESTERN CATTLE RAISERS ASSOCIA- tion (TSCRA) membership increased to 17,300 members by the end of 2015. We are very thankful for all of the long-time members who
renewed in 2015 and welcome nearly 2,000 new members to TSCRA. Looking ahead to 2016, your Association Promotion Committee is al-
ready putting plans in place to continue increasing TSCRA membership. As of this writing, we are preparing for our annual RAP Team Planning Meeting, where we take a hard look at our membership activities and identify opportunities for growth. One of the marketing strategies that you have read about in this col-
umn is ranch gatherings. We conducted 44 ranch gatherings in 2015, hosting more than 5,500 attendees. These are great fi gures, but we know we can improve. Most of the 5,500 guests were members and many attended the event
with another family member or spouse who was included on the same membership. What if they had each invited a non-member to attend the event with them? If we can get non-member ranchers to hear what TSCRA does every day to honor and protect the ranching way of life, we know they will tend to join at the event. My challenge to all TSCRA members in 2016 is to commit to bringing
1 non-member to a ranch gathering. If you can fulfi ll this one request, TSCRA’s membership will grow and the organization will be stronger. As an incentive, if your guest joins TSCRA at the event, you will be en-
tered in a drawing to win a prize at the following convention. This year’s prize is a New Holland Rustler utility vehicle and a Ritchie Industries waterer, a total value of nearly $15,000. That’s a pretty good incentive to invite a friend or neighbor to a free beef dinner! Watch the news from TSCRA for ranch gathering dates in your area
and for more details on this exciting membership recruitment challenge. All you have to do is invite a non-member to come to a beef dinner with you. We’ll do all the asking from there.
