To withstand the harsh operating environments often found in the process control industry, Emerson has introduced three new solutions. The first is the Rosemount 3051S Thermal Range Expander with new UltraTherm 805 oil fill fluid, which enables pressure measurements by direct-mounting a diaphragm seal system to processes that reach up to 410°C without requiring impulse piping or heat tracing. By using the new thermal range expander dual fill fluid seal, the device can reliably measure pressure at extremely high process and low ambient temperatures. In addition, the Rosemount 3051S Electronic Remote Sensors (ERS) System now has safety certification. Designed to calculate differential pressure through a digital architecture, this is now suitable for SIL 2 and 3 applications. Finally, the new Rosemount 3051S


High Static Differential Pressure Transmitter provides reliable flow measurement in high pressure applications with capabilities up to 15,000 psi (1034 bar). In industries such as offshore and onshore oil and gas and power generation, where pressures can exceed 10,000 psi, it is critical that instrumentation is robust enough to provide accurate measurements on a consistent basis. The transmitter’s SuperModule platform and coplanar design reduce potential leak points by 50% compared to traditional designs, the company explains.

Directive, which comes into force in July, is now available from Link Microtek. The compact EHP-50F field

New to TE Connectivity’s line of linear displacement sensors is the MHR-T Series of high-temperature, miniature linear variable differential transformers (LVDTs). Manufactured under a strict ISO 9001 quality system, these measure just 9.5mm in diameter and are capable of operating in temperatures from -20˚C up to 200˚C. Featuring a rugged, corrosion-resistant aluminium construction that withstands elevated temperatures as well as high shock and vibration, these are available with a wide range of strokes from ±0.025 to ±1in. The high output sensitivity of the MHR-T enables


interfacing with nearly all signal conditioners and conditioning circuits. In addition, the low core weight reduces its influence on the attribute being recorded for accurate measurement in applications requiring higher displacement speeds. It also reduces mechanical stresses to preserve the structural integrity of the core actuation assembly for long-term, reliable measurements, the company explains. MONITORING ELECTRICAL POWER


According to Panasonic, as energy management becomes ever more important within industry, the need for multifunctional and flexible monitoring of electrical power consumption is necessary. To help, the company has introduced the KW2M Eco Power Meter, a new generation of equipment with multi functionality that enables users to monitor energy quality and many other parameters on up to eight three-phase circuits or 24 single-phase from a single controller. This is realised using the expansion unit feature where up to three expansion units can be added, meaning considerable cost savings when monitoring multiple circuits. The meter has two Ethernet communication ports allowing daisy


chaining of multiple units. To complement this flexibility, the built-in web server facility allows easy access to parameters for comprehensive

and remote operation via optical cable, and can be optimally positioned without causing any distortion of the field. The analyser can be controlled and the results displayed by attaching it to either a Narda NBM-550 handheld meter or a PC running the EHP50-TS software supplied. It can measure electric field strengths from 5mV/m to 100kV/m and magnetic fields from 0.3nT to 10mT, has a dynamic range of more than 105dB and can operate in ambient temperatures from -20 to 55˚C.

calibration certificate and is compatible with TE’s full line of LVDT signal conditioners. AC operation for all models ranges from 2kHz to 20kHz. The transducers can accurately measure
