Malvern launches new accessories for chocolate and coffee analysis
M
alvern Instruments have released new accessories for the Mastersizer3000 which optimize the particle size analysis of chocolate and coffee. The two new, innovative additions to the Mastersizer portfolio – Chocosizer kit and the Funnel Sample Feeder for the Aero S - enable faster analysis and make it easier to develop and apply the robust particle sizing methods that are essential to both industries. Particle size directly impacts both the flavor and strength of coffee.
Consistent
production of the correct grade of coffee therefore relies heavily on the quick and reproducible measurement of coffee ground particle size and size distributions.
Controlling the particle size of
chocolate ensures desirable taste and texture, creating a similar requirement for routine particle sizing within the industry.

High Performance 2” Mobile Thermal Printer
T
he WSP-R231 is the latest thermal printer to be added to Craft Data’s extensive mobile printer range. The 2 WSP-R231 follows along in the same design vein as the very successful WSP-R240/R241 printers. The R231 is compact measuring just 79.5mm x 104.3mm x 36.5mm giving it one of the smallest footprints on the market today for any 2 printer. It is lightweight at just 200g however its rugged construction allows it to withstand a drop onto hard flooring from 1.5M. Whilst the printer is small no compromise has been made on performance, a print speed of 100mm/sec and a resolution of 203dpi ensures fast, high quality graphics printing.
The R231’s built-in memory far
exceeds its rivals with a Flash Memory of 8MB, RAM of 16MB and Buffer of 1MB. The printer has a full USB 2.0 interface plus Bluetooth 3.0 and is compatible with Android, Windows and Linux operating systems.

Averna’s UKAS - ISO 17025 Calibration Y
oung Calibration is an independent flow and air velocity calibration facility, offering laboratory and onsite calibration services. Cost effective and quick turnaround for fluid and gas flow calibrations. It is a leading UK laboratory for gas and fluid flow and air velocity calibration services. The laboratories are UKAS accredited to ISO 17025 (Lab 0604).
Gas and Fluid Flow Calibration The laboratory has recently invested in a high accuracy hydrocarbon prover for the calibration of helical, PD and turbine flowmeters and a fully automated primary gas flow standard for the calibration of mass flowmeters and controllers. UKAS accredited calibrations can be undertake to a CMC of 0.15% on the new gravimetric water calibration facility.
Air Velocity Calibration The UK’s highest accuracy UKAS accredited wind tunnel, covering 0.05 to 80 m/s. Air velocity calibration and anemometer calibration services are undertaken in one of the three laboratory wind tunnels, offer- ing extreme accuracy in both low and high speed operating modes. The facility can offer independent, UKAS accredited air velocity calibrations for all types of pitot tubes, probes, vanes and thermal anemometers. The latest addition to the laboratory is a 1m x 1 m test section wind tunnel enabling the calibration of rotating cup and ultrasonic anemometers with minimal or no blockage corrections.
Flow Meter Sales & Hire New for 2016, the company is now offering an extensive range of flowmeters for hire or sale, with over 200 meters held in stock for immediate delivery.
