INSTRUMENTATION SCOTLAND & OFFSHORE SYSTEMS JOINS DATATEAM EXHIBITION PORTFOLIO
Datateam Business Media has acquired the sole rights and all assets of the Instrumentation Scotland & Offshore Systems show from Trident Exhibitions. The event, which will be taking
place on 31st August and 1st September, specifically addresses manufacturing in Scotland. All existing agreements and contracts remain in place and will be honoured by Datateam. Located at the heart of the offshore industry in Aberdeen, Instrumentation Scotland & Offshore Systems brings together the many companies who supply products and services specific to the offshore sector in addition to more traditional industries representing processing, power generation, paper, distilling, water and waste, and
marine engineering in north-east Scotland. A free seminar programme with contributions from notable industry experts will take place alongside the exhibition. This news follows the very successful Sensors & Instrumentation exhibition which took place at the NEC, Birmingham, in September and enjoyed an increase in both exhibitor and visitor numbers, with exhibitor re-bookings currently 75% up year-on-year. The same event team will now be working on the Instrumentation Scotland & Offshore Systems exhibition, including Helen Thewlis, former managing director of Trident. Kathryn Ambrose, publishing and event director, said: “This acquisition is taking place at what I
believe is a very exciting time for the buoyant sensors, instrumentation and offshore sectors. I want to thank all the exhibitors for their continued custom and ongoing support for this unique event. I am also delighted that Helen Thewlis, formally of Trident Exhibitions, will be joining us to provide continuity and ensure a smooth transition. Helen is highly regarded within the industry and brings with her a wealth of exhibition experience. I’m confident that with her help and the excellent team we have in place, the 2016 event will be extremely successful.” Helen Thewlis added: “I am
delighted that this exhibition has been acquired by Datateam and very

‘Opportunities for Handheld and Portable Equipment in the Global Electronic Test Market’, a new piece of research from Frost & Sullivan, has found that the market earned revenues of $2.26 billion in 2014 and estimates this to reach $2.92 billion in 2020. The study covers the product segments of general purpose (GP) testers, environmental testers and electrical testers. “Handheld testers are selected based on application, accuracy, environments, size and battery life, but leading manufacturers are also striving to achieve
benchtop accuracy,” said Frost & Sullivan measurement & instrumentation industry analyst, Prathima Bommakanti. “With advancements in monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) and chip technologies, they are launching testers with new levels of radio frequency performance and ruggedness.” Manufacturers are now also
adding touch screen control for additional ease of use, and providing longer battery life, the company adds.
