Texas BEEF Team Partners in Fight Against Diabetes

HE TEXAS BEEF COUNCIL (TBC) CON- tinues its sponsorship of the
Tour de Cure to benefi t the Ameri- can Diabetes Association (ADA). The Tour de Cure is a series of cy- cling events held in 44 states nation- wide with a purpose to fi nd a cure and raise awareness for diabetes and diabetes risk factors. Checkoff-supported cycling
events included the Hula Hut Tour de Cure Kick-off Training Ride, Red Rider Rally, BEEF Team Kick-off Ride, Houston Tour de Cure ride and the two-day Central Texas Tour de Cure ride from Austin to Freder- icksburg and return. Additionally, some riders in Austin completed a double century ride, which was 200 miles. TBC also sponsored VIP dinners
and a Champion’s dinner through- out the year in each market to help tell beef’s healthy story. The Texas BEEF Teams con-
sisted of 158 members, including 117 in Houston and 41 in Austin. TBC’s BEEF Team raised more than $76,000 to support ADA’s mission to help fi nd a cure for diabetes, raise awareness of diabetes risk factors, and help people living with dia- betes.
