A NEW RANGE OF SLOTLESS MOTORS FOR HIGH SPEED APPLICATIONS

New from IDEC Corporation is the FL1F SmartRelay, an upgrade to the previous FL1E model. The device can now accommodate small- to medium-sized OEM machine control and other applications, the company explains. The FL1F SmartRelay CPU module has


eight discrete inputs and four discrete outputs. In addition, there are six types of I/O expansion modules, and up to 12 I/O expansion modules can be added to the CPU, expanding the I/O capacity to 60 I/O. Maximum configurations are 24 discrete inputs, 20 discrete outputs, eight analogue inputs and eight analogue outputs. Each discrete output can switch up to 10A. These I/O points are monitored and


controlled through the use of the device’s expanded programming capacity with a maximum 400 function blocks. In addition to industry standard function blocks, five new types are supported: astronomical clock, analogue filter, maximum and minimum, average and stop watch. Additional features include an improved


LCD operator interface which can display six lines, each with up to 20 characters. Selectable white, amber or red backlighting allows operators to easily distinguish alarm and alert status at a distance, and an external Text Display Panel, which mimics the CPU display, is also available to provide an additional operator interface point. The FL1F SmartRelay’s Ethernet port can be used to connect to: a PC for programming; text display panel; other FL1F controllers; and the internet for remote monitoring.

a flat winding on the inside. Since the windings don’t have an iron core, the motor’s inductance is very low and the current rises rapidly. In addition, the amount of iron lost is greatly reduced and the motors have a high efficiency rating. During slow operation, the lack of torque ripple has a positive effect. DS16 is available in size S with a power output of 3.7W at max. 27,000 rpm; in size M with a power output of 10W at max. 30,000 rpm; and in size L with a power output of 25W at max. 29,000 rpm. The low inductance of these slotless motors, combined with the PWM frequency of the controller, can lead to high current ripple generating additional heat. Therefore, additional motor throttles need to be used between the controller and motor.

There are now 100 million product variants in Zettlex’s IncOder range of inductive angle encoders. The new range includes mini IncOders at 37mm diameter, midi IncOders at 58mm diameter and maxi IncOders from 75 up to 300mm diameter. It also has a melting point of over 290˚C, so can effectively protect the components it is lubricating from the adverse effects of excessive heat while retaining its lubricating properties. In addition, K Nate’s calcium sulfonate base is naturally water resistant, so it scores 0.5% in a water washout test and continues to perform unaffected by the introduction of moisture.
