HIGH PERFORMANCE TRACK ROLLERS
According to Schaeffler, with their increased dynamic load rating and a speed limit increase, the redesigned LR52 and LR53 series of track rollers offers a significantly higher load carrying capacity and a longer rating life than its predecessors. Track rollers are self-retaining
double-row units with thick-walled outer rings. In addition to high radial forces, these bearings can also support axial forces in both directions. The outer rings have a crowned or cylindrical outside surface. The designs with a crowned outside surface are used where they are inclined in relation to the
LOW FRICTION HUB BEARING UNITS LAUNCHED
Featuring a reduced preload range, the latest version of SKF’s third generation hub bearing unit (HBU3) reduces friction by up to 10%, helping to minimise CO2
emissions and deliver greater fuel efficiency,
meaning the unit is suitable for cars and vans. By working with automotive OEMs on the
development of the new hub bearing unit, the company has produced a unit that is easy to install and replace, that offers high reliability and, with the latest enhancements, now gives both OEMs and their customers the opportunity to improve vehicle performance even further, the company states.

When combined with its precision linear shaft, HepcoMotion’s new range of linear ball bushings provide a cost effective linear solution for a wide range of applications. The bushings are available in sizes from 5mm to 60mm, in European and Japanese metric sizes (international standard sizes allow interchangeability). According to the company, the high quality super ball bushings
provide a long service life, the increased capacity reduces the size of bearing required, and they also have a self-aligning feature. Standard Ball bushings are available as standard or extended length ball bushings for increased rigidity. The ball bushings are also easy to integrate into existing systems.

mating track, ensuring reducing edge loading if misalignment occurs. Part of the X-life product family, these keep the same external dimensions so can be used as direct replacements. Both series are offered with DEHP-free HRS seals as standard or with improved steel sealing shields (Z) as an option. Customers can also choose between an optimised polyamide cage or a rigid, robust steel cage.

CURVED JAW COUPLINGS
Curved jaw couplings ranging from simple types up to high performance designs suiting shafts from three to 90mm diameter are now available from Techdrives. Curved jaw types consist of two hubs and a central polyurethane element with curved faces. The curved element ensures that surface loads are spread and always in compression, leading to long service life and helping with flexibility, giving a typical misalignment capacity of 1-1.5 degrees. Coupling characteristics can, however, be modified by changing the hardness of the element. The hubs for basic couplings have
cast jaws to minimise costs. They are supplied in either aluminium or cast iron and fixed to shafts with a keyway and grubscrew. Higher performance versions have aluminium hubs that are split with a side clamping bolt to achieve a clamp connection to the shaft without a keyway.

ELEVATING THE USE OF SCREW JACKS
Two Power Jacks 300kN E-Series Machine Screw Jacks been used on a mechanical decline runway at the Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS) High Performance Service Centre. Used in translating screw configuration, the screw jacks were used in an innovative approach to deliver a 45m ramp. At the touch of a button, the runway can go from almost invisible within the floor to being elevated to 1.5m. Whether elevated or not, however, the surface must remain firm and stable for the athlete’s safety and performance. When in use, the ramp provides those

training. The elevated ramp allows the pole vaulter to generate a greater speed over a shorter distance, saving energy which can then be applied in performing the vault. The screw jacks were of benefit to this
application as they offer precision and reliability while being low maintenance. Power Jacks screw jacks come in a variety
of designs to suit application demands, and are proven in the most demanding linear motion projects and environments, the company explains.
