you get to North Conway, and this day was no different. We arrived in town ahead of the train and set up for our shot. Much of the Conway Scenic yard had already succumbed to tree shadows by the time we arrived at 3:30 p.m., but the 1874 Victorian station was bathed in beautiful sunlight. The Valley Train crew was getting ready to put its consist away to make room for the arrival of the Notch Train, so we were able to get a few more bonus shots of No. 1751. was in the clear. Framed with a classic New England “highball” style signal, a classic railroading scene had unfolded before us. Many frames were exposed as the train was put away for the night. Facing a five-hour drive back to our hotel in Albany, N.Y., we decided to re- trace our steps through Crawford Notch and enjoy dinner at Fabyan Station. Over dinner we reflected on the beau- tiful weather we encountered as we ex- plored a section of railroad neither of us had chased before. It was the cap to a wonderful weekend of New England mountain railfanning.
