graduation (1957), a stint in the Air Force (through 1964), work driving a taxi (1965), and a career in television as a cameraman and set designer (in North Dakota and Nevada through 1998), and we find Fisher retired and devoting full time to painting. A self- taught artist, he attributes his “big break” as a railroad artist to the fact that the March 1981 issue of RAILFAN & RAILROAD featured one of his works on the cover. “That,” according to the Heritage Arts Editions biography, “led to other magazine and book covers and eventually (to) Limited Edition Art Prints.” Known for his attention to detail, Fisher considers a magnifying glass and the #1 paint brush “the most important tools of his trade.” His approach emphasizes the recreation of authentic scenes of a bygone era on canvas. He emphasizes settings that can never again be captured on film: UP Big Boys storming Sherman Hill, Espee cab-forwards conquering Donner Pass, or Canadian Pacific Selkirks mastering the Canadian Rockies. His works do, however, record other means of transportation as well — automobiles, streetcars, motorcycles, aircraft, tractors, and ships — also in historical settings. His favorites, though, remain railroad settings. About the Book: Fisher’s 224-page book includes more than 100 high-quality images. Pages measure 101

detailing intended to captivate the reader. The author provides an essay on the facing page of each work that describes the origin and intention of the accompanying work. The book comes enclosed in an “elegantly craft- ed” matching collector’s case, with the book numbered and signed by the artist.
