Palermaa, Yeo each win $81K top prize in Tokyo ‘showcase’

////////////////// Osku Palermaa

was born in Espoo, Finland, now resides in Gothernburg, Sweden, and may go down in bowling history for what he accomplished on the lanes in Tokyo, Japan. On July 12, Palermaa won the men’s title, while Joey Yeo of Singapore captured the women’s crown, in the Bowling World Open, which culminated with nationally televised championship rounds at the Makuhari-Messe Convention Center. Each champion received $81,000, but, more importantly, helped showcase the sport of bowling as Japan Bowling Congress and World Bowling officials work to have bowling included in the 2020 Summer Olympic Games, to be held in Tokyo.
