COLONIC
IRRIGATION: Bonus Benefi ts
by Paula Noack, LM/CT S
o why is it that someone who already has a healthily functioning colon (1-3 eliminations a day) feels so good after a colonic irrigation, often for an extended period of time? Clearly, the two most obvious effects of a Colonic Session are the removal of accumulated waste and exercise of the colon through repeated stimulation to contract and then relax. That’s great for someone whose usual functioning is less than every day. But for a person who has few complaints in that department? Well, there are some subtle benefi ts to Colonic Irrigation technique that are worth considering. When water fi lls the colon, indirect pressure is exerted on near-by structures, causing an increase in movement of the fl uids in and around them. As the colon rhythmically contracts to expel the water and waste, even more fl uid movement occurs. This fl uid is where the cellular by-products of processing food, carrying on Life, infl ammation and bits of worn-out disintegrating cells collect. This debris makes its way into the lymphatic and blood vessels. These transport tubes are also being massaged by the colon’s muscular responses. This speeds up the delivery of the toxins to the liver, where they are fi ltered out and sent to the kidneys or colon for elimination from the body. That’s like a double cleanse for the price of one. Pretty neat, huh? There’s more…..
