not in the places you might expect. With digital display and presentation solutions in every lecture theatre and group working areas, a simple switch to a new platform can

achieve dramatic savings and improve image quality, operational effi ciency and reduce maintenance. Casio Projectors is a pioneer of Laser & LED hybrid

light source technology and is the only manufacturer whose range is completely mercury free. Unlike traditional projectors, the Casio UST doesn’t have a lamp, so the light source remains consistent over time with minimal drop off in brightness ensuring visuals remain vivid throughout its 20,000 hour lifespan. In addition, the removal of lamps means that

there are no parts to change. This provides a much more reliable solution with no downtime and gives universities the peace of mind that over three to fi ve years they can accurately predict their costs. The revolutionary Casio Ultra Short Throw (UST)

model has transformed the classroom experience with the ability to create an 80” image from a distance of just 27cm. With a continually bright display, the Casio UST negates end users’ regular complaint from traditional projectors of having to draw curtains or blinds during presentations in order to view the screen properly.

“Employing a projector series which uses Laser & LED Hybrid light source technology rather than traditional lamp-based products has cut down on time waiting for projectors to warm up or cool down, ensuring sessions start promptly, maximise learning time”

University of Manchester The benefi ts of the UST model were discovered by University of Manchester who revolutionised the display solutions throughout 24 study rooms to create four times the screen estate with an industry- leading low total cost of ownership. Working with Universal AV, a unifi ed technology solution was provided that allowed for the rooms to transform for a variety of uses. The spaces are shared by the Faculty of Life Sciences

and the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences and are required to become a variety of learning environments at a moment’s notice, from tutorials and collaboration work spaces to boutique presentation suites. The incredibly high teaching standards at the University of Manchester mean that technology solutions need to be reliable and consistent to meet expectations. Bill Ayres, Service Delivery Manager at the

University of Manchester explains: “We fi rst utilised the Casio projector range in a refurbishment project a couple of years ago which saw us install Casio Green Slim projectors. We were impressed with the benefi ts of the projector series and the quality of presentations delivered with was undeniable. Employing a projector series which uses Laser & LED Hybrid light source technology rather than traditional lamp-based products has cut down on time waiting for projectors to warm up or cool down, ensuring sessions start promptly, maximise learning time.” Alongside the maintenance benefi ts, the Casio UST

also contributes to the establishment’s wider social responsibility goals. Completely lamp-free, the UST removes hazardous substances such as Mercury from the presentation environment. The reduced power consumption and more effi cient

design of the projector contribute to an increased life expectancy, resulting in an industry-leading total cost of ownership. Ayres concludes: “Casio is a manufacturer we would

have no doubts about using again in the future. The products have not only provided a solution that fi ts with our ethos, but one that also matches our high standards and meets our budget requirements.” UB
