news VDMA: machine sales to rise 3%

Global sales of plastics and rubber machinery will increase by an average of 3% per year to 2016, according to a report commissioned by the VDMA Plastics and Rubber Machinery Association in Germany. It also forecasts that

European sales will be down 2% in 2014 but then grow by 2% in 2015. Back in October, sales in Germany were forecast to decline by 1% this year. In 2015, manufacturers are expecting a 4% growth. European manufacturing

countries and China account for almost three-quarters of global production. The main sales markets – China and the

USA – together take nearly a quarter of world deliveries of plastics and rubber machinery. If the EU is included, that takes the fi gure to 47% of world exports.

VDMA said that 2015 would see rising sales in China and the US, and a further recovery in sales to Europe.  German machine shipments to Russia are expected to have declined in 2014, according to interim fi gures from VDMA. Sales in the fi rst nine months of 2014 were €106.6m, a decrease of more than 40% compared with the same period in 2013. This would equate to a fi gure of €130m for the year, down from nearly

expected to remain Russia’s leading provider of plastics machinery. The statistics have been

released to coincide with Germany’s participation in the Russian plastics show Interplastica that is held in late January.  http://plastics.vdma.org

Belarus government will help pipe maker introduce new technologies

The government of Belarus is ready to help a national pipe manufacturer to “assimilate innovative technologies” in an attempt to boost its production quality and output. Kochanovo Pipe Plant Beltrubplast makes polyethyl-

ene (PE) pipes mainly for the sewage industry, as well as products for the water and gas transport.

Belarus prime minister

Andrei Kobyakov, on a visit to the plant, said the pipes would otherwise be imported

according to a report from the Belta news agency. In one project, the plant is

working on how to sanitise large diameter pipes without dismantling and digging them out, and in some cases without interrupting the operation of the networks – while also providing the warranty of up to 50 years.

“This is a promising project,

and we will assist the plant with the practical assimilation of these technologies,” said Kobyakov in the Belta report. The company is majority-

owned by Polyplastic Group of Russia, Eastern Europe’s largest manufacturer of plastic pipes and fi ttings. The plant manufactures PE smooth

pipes (for drinking water, gas and technical pipes), fi ttings and couplings for pipes, as well as hydraulic tools for mounting heat pipes. The company makes more than 3,000 items, including pipes and fi ttings. As well as domestic sales, it also exports to nearby countries such as Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakh- stan.

In 2014, the company

in vested around BYR9bn (US$600,000) in fi xed capital. In future it plans to increase production by investing in modern technologies and equipment, and through “advanced methods of labour organisation”.  http://en.polyplastic.ru/
